Astrophotography

workshop

A UNIQUE PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE

The Murchison Region of Western Australia is home to some of the darkest skies in the world. Vast expanses of cattle country and mulga bush, with very sparse human activity mean very little light pollution to interfere with astrophotography.

Wooleen Station owners David and Frances have pioneered a sustainable approach to agriculture in Australia, and their efforts to restore the lands native flora and fauna make this the perfect location to learn Astrophotography.

Here are some FAQ's

What date is the workshop?

The dates of the 19th, 20th and 21st of May have been chosen to align with the best astrophotography conditions. A second workshop may be scheduled for later in the year but for now these are the only dates available.

What rooms are available?

We have reserved the historic Wooleen Station Homestead for this event. There are both single or twin/double rooms available. All rooms have shared bathrooms. Please note if you book twin you will be sharing with a room mate for the duration. Double rooms are booked based on two people with both attending the course. If one person is not attending the course they get a 10% discount.

How many people will be on the course?

The course will run with a minimum of 5 people and a maximum of 10. If we do not get the required minimum, you will receive the full refund, or if you would still like to stay at Wooleen then you receive a refund minus the accomodation cost.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring your camera, a tripod, a laptop and have the latest versions of Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop installed.

Also please bring warm weather clothing, a torch with red light and good boots. A camp chair might also come in handy.

How do we get around the station?

Our astrophotography workshops will be run away from the homestead to reduce light pollution. Participants will be asked to drive themselves or to car-pool. We can go in convoy to each location.

Are meals included?

Yes! All your meals are included in the price with alcohol an optional extra.
